CBC Advisors Supports Utah County HIVEs Initiatives

Program Receives $25,000 in Donations

Salt Lake City (September 24, 2015) – The Street Team at Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors (CBC Advisors) sponsored the first .5 Ability Run on behalf of Just For Kids of Utah County, a nonprofit providing academic and activity-based programs for individuals with disabilities and their families. The event raised over $25,000 for future HIVEs (Habilitation Independence Vocation Education Socialization) initiatives.

“The .5 Ability Run was an incredible success for the program,” said Michelle Holbrook of Just For Kids of Utah County. “We look forward to utilizing these new resources to ensure that more friendships are developed and fostered, social skills are learned and incorporated, daily activity is encouraged, and independence is practiced and experienced.”

Eleven years ago, moms of individuals with disabilities in Utah County gathered and visualized opportunities to afford their children. Just For Kids of Utah County was created as a result. Today the organization provides various activity programs for persons with disabilities throughout Utah County.

“Just For Kids of Utah County contributes greatly to the quality of life found in the neighborhoods in which we live, work and play,” said Mary Street, Land and Investment Specialist at CBC Advisors. “The extreme community support of the .5 Ability Run demonstrates the special characteristics of this program.”

Money raised from the event will directly fund HIVEs initiatives. HIVEs provides adult individuals living with intellectual disabilities necessary skills to function in their local community with surety and pride through a unique community-based educational activity program. Participants work out in local fitness centers, learn in a community college setting, pursue lifelong educational learning, serve local senior citizens, and compete on athletic teams and in individual sporting events.

“We can’t thank The Street Team at CBC Advisors and Lehi City enough for their support of the HIVEs program and .5 Ability Run,” said Holbrook. “The outcome of their effort will impact the program well into the future.”
