Idaho’s First Large-Format Movie Theatre To Open In Pine Ridge Mall

Carmike Cinemas introduces BigD, the ultimate entertainment experience.

Carmike Cinemas signs lease expanding its current Carmike 10 Cinemas at Pine Ridge Mall by 6,000 square feet. The BigD expansion brings the first large-format theater to Idaho.

The new BigD Digital Experience is a feature that has only been seen in big-city America up until now. The auditorium will include a wall-to-wall giant screen measuring 60 feet wide and 3 stories high, custom luxury seating, the latest in 7.1 surround sound and digital projection for both 2-D and 3-D films.

“The expansion of the theater equates to more people frequenting the Pine Ridge Mall and community of Chubbuck,” Don Zebe, vice president at Coldwell Banker Commercial Intermountain, said. “This means economic activity around the mall has the potential to soar, bringing additional jobs, an increase of retailers and more buyer attraction to the area.”

“BigD will feature bigger screens, bigger sound and bigger, more luxurious seats, providing the ultimate entertainment experience,” David Passman, Carmike’s President and CEO, said.

Carmike Cinemas is a Georgia-based company with 278 theaters and 2,917 screens in 41 states. The circuit includes 42 premium large format auditoriums featuring state-of-the-art technology and luxurious seating. The organization employed 7,800 people and had revenues in excess of $634 million at the close of its 2013 fiscal year.
