CBC Advisors Represented Family Retailer
Provo, Utah (January 18, 2017) — This week Dave’s Bernina announced plans to move their operations to a new location in Provo. Ryan Myers of CBC Advisors represented Dave’s Bernina in both the sale of their old location and the purchase of their new one.
“To put these deals together took a lot of persistence and hard work from all that were involved, but it was worth every bit of effort,” said Myers. “I’m excited for Dave’s Bernina and the opportunity and potential their new location will bring for them and their business.”
Dave’s Bernina, a family-owned retailer of Bernina sewing machines and equipment, opened on Provo Center Street in 1960 and is currently operated by the sons of founder Dave Borget, Richard and Rod. The family enjoyed their downtown storefront, but the business was getting too big to operate at their current location.
“We’ve loved being downtown, but we need to grow,” said Richard Borget. “At our new store we’ll have bigger classrooms and more space for events. It will be better for everyone.”
Dave’s Bernina has earned the title of Top Bernina Distributor every year for decades. Their new location, just off of University Parkway at 2017 N 550 W, will take them from 3,920 square feet of space to just over 5,000 and offer additional parking and an overall better layout.
“We ended up negotiating on this deal four or five times with multiple different property owners,” said Myers. “The original seller went with another buyer, who we later ended up coming to terms with. Luckily, everything fell into place in the end and everyone stuck in there to make this deal possible, including an outstanding job by the lender, Troy Stringham from First Capital Commercial.”
